Some one said “life’s a journey.” So it is. A journey through unexpected situations that mysteriously turns your life richer, meeting strange people who comes so closer in no time and waking up in places that constantly takes your breathe away. A Traveler’s life in motion.
After two days of walking steep up hill our legs were sore and our body tired. The chilly wind that blew in the night made it impossible for the sleeping bags to warm up. It was third day of our trek and we were camped beside Pipar Lake. As I opened my tent to step out a gust of chilly wind hit me. It was only five- thirty in the morning. Braving the cold I slowly stepped outside the tent.
If you want a cliff hanger experience in Nepal, the Kathmandu valley perimeter offers some hair-raising spots. There are some terrific, dizzying places for those who get their kicks from crawling up vertical cliffs. As we slalom past sausage vendors and trekkers in zip-leg pants, Kevin Neophron Percnopterus flaps and ruffles to maintain his balance.
Over the Himalaya is a hidden valley. Surrounded by the 8,000 m-plus Annapurna range and the great peaks of Pisang and Chulu, the valley is wild and wonderful. Nomadic Tibeto-Burman people, moving across the mountains hunting and gathering food, found and settled the valley centuries ago.
Annapurna area was first explored by British Colonel James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in the year 1956 and brought the world’s attention to this ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. One of Nepal's most famous trekking routes lies close to the Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki Rivers, near Tibet, and within the Annapurna Conservation area. This is not easy trek, as the route rises to an altitude of 5416m at the Thorong-La Pass, but it is an exciting and beautiful one, and one well suited to mountain biking for those with good bike skills.
